Speaker Bio

Leonidas Bakouras is General Manager of Thracean Mining & Thrace Minerals (Eldorado Gold) and has extensive experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors. For more than 25 years, he has held senior leadership positions in major natural gas distribution companies, including serving as Chief Executive Officer of EDA Attikis and as Senior Advisor at DEPA Infrastructure.

As General Manager of EDA THESS (ENI/ITALGAS), he played a key role in the development and expansion of the natural gas network in Thessaloniki and Thessaly, supporting the transition of these regions to cleaner forms of energy.

In his current role as General Manager of Thracean Mining & Thrace Minerals, he is responsible for planning and advancing the development of Eldorado Gold’s mining investments in the Thrace region. His responsibilities include coordinating the strategic development of the projects, overseeing the preparation and submission of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and managing the geological and exploration programs. Drawing on his extensive experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors, he continues to promote the principles of sustainable development, environmental responsibility, transparency, and meaningful engagement with local communities, with the aim of creating long-term value for the Thrace region.
