Matina Charkoftaki was raised in Heraklion, Crete, and has worked as a journalist for more than 14 years. She studied at the Department of International and European Studies at Panteion University and later earned a master’s degree in International Relations and Economic Studies from the same institution.
She began her professional journey in business journalism in 2012, when she joined SBC TV, Greece’s first financial television channel, where she spent six years reporting on major listed companies at the Athens Stock Exchange. During her professional journey, she has developed a broad network of collaborations with leading publishing groups and communications firms, including Attikes Ekdoseis, Boussias Communications, where she covered FOODReporter and Build, and contributed to the Business Daily news website.
In 2022, she expanded her reporting portfolio by joining Capital.gr, one of Greece’s leading business news platforms, where she covered major corporate developments, infrastructure projects, and strategic investments. At the same time, she became part of the editorial team of Kefalaio newspaper and the Greek edition of Forbes magazine, producing in-depth reporting and interviews on technology, transportation, and the fast-growing online gaming sector, while also traveling internationally for reporting assignments, including a collaboration project with Forbes China in Shanghai.
In early 2025, she joined Kathimerini as a business journalist, continuing to focus on strategic industries and digital transformation.
