Thanassis Theocharopoulos is Agricultural Economist MSc and holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics. He has worked in academic institutions, teaching a significant range of courses, in the fields of Sustainable Development and Agricultural Policy. He has participated in a multitude of research programs, supported by the European Commission and various universities. His scientific publications include more than 50 papers in international scientific journals, conferences and in chapters of internatioanal scientific books. He has been served as Special Secretary for Community Recources and Infrastructure if the Ministry of Rural Development and Food. He has been elected as Member of Parliament and president of Democratic Left Party (2015-2019). In 2019 he served as Minister of Tourism in the government of SYRIZA. He was Director of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA - Progressive Alliance. He is an elected member of Central Committee and Political Secretary (2022-2026) and Director of the Political Bureau of the President of SYRIZA - Progressive - Alliance (2024-2026).
