Christos Chomenidis was born in Athens in August 1966. He graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens and went on to attend law courses in Moscow and communications studies in England.
In 1988, his first short story was published in Playboy magazine. In 1993, he released his novel "The Wise Kid" (To Sofo Paidi), which received an enthusiastic reception from both the public and critics, allowing him to devote himself fully to the art of storytelling. Over the following thirty years, Chomenidis wrote fourteen more novels and published four collections of short stories.
In 2021, his novel "Niki" was awarded the European Book Prize (Prix du Livre Européen) by a committee of leading European journalists. This followed his receipt of the Greek State Literature Award and the "Anagnostis" magazine award in 2015. Both "Niki" and his novel "Phoenix" (Foinikas) were also honored with the Public Book Award for Best Novel.
