Spyros Sapounas

Spyros Sapounas is a Greek physician, endocrinologist-diabetologist, specializing also in public health and preventive medicine, currently serving as the President of the National Organization for Medicines (EOF) in Greece. He has significant experience in healthcare management and pharmaceutical regulation, focusing on ensuring the safety, quality, and efficacy of medicinal products. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a key role in Greece’s public health response through his leadership positions at the National Public Health Organization (EODY), where he served as Director and later as Vice President. In these roles, he contributed to crisis management, epidemiological surveillance, and the implementation of national health strategies. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in shaping health policy and strengthening public health systems in Greece, with contributions at both national and European levels.
