Speaker Bio

Ioannis Asimakopoulos is a financial services lawyer advising on both regulatory and transactional matters. Based in London and Brussels, he focuses his practice on UK and EU financial services law, with particular emphasis on banking, digital assets, and artificial intelligence. He represents a broad range of clients—including regulators, retail and investment banks, wealth managers, and fintech companies—supporting their activities across different jurisdictions, including Greece.

Ioannis has extensive regulatory experience, drawing on his time at the EU bank resolution authority, where he worked on matters central to the EU banking union and financial stability. He holds a PhD in financial law and has served as a guest lecturer in many universities in Europe and is often published in top-tier publications on issues of financial regulation.
