Speaker Bio

Adrianos Golemis studied Medicine in Thessaloniki, Greece and obtained his Master’s on Space Studies by the International Space University in Strasbourg, France. His career path then led him to learning opportunities at King's College and, more recently, INSEAD. Adrianos began his work as a research doctor in Antarctica, implementing European experiments on human physiology and psychology in complete isolation for a full year. He then worked for MEDES, the French Institute of Space Medicine and Physiology, as a medical doctor on clinical studies that simulate the challenges to the human body by the spaceflight environment. Since 2018 he contributes to the medical support of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) astronauts, where he now holds the position of Lead Flight Surgeon. In 2022 he went through ESA’s astronaut selection procedure himself, achieving a top 0.1% performance among 22500 applicants in Europe. As a result, in 2026 he became the first Greek citizen to commence astronaut training at ESA's European Astronaut Centre and aspires to represent Greece and its research and technology in spaceflight one day. He is an external collaborator of the Hellenic Space Center (HSC), represents the country at the International Space Exploration Coordination Group (ISECG) and contributes to science dissemination with >100 public talks on a voluntary basis. He enjoys astrophotography and diving and holds a Private Pilot License. He is an elected member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and The Explorers’ Club.
