Emmie Kell is a senior cultural leader with a career dedicated to advancing the UK’s museums and heritage sector. As Director of Museums and Cultural Property, Emmie plays a pivotal role in shaping national policy, supporting innovation, and championing inclusive practice across the cultural landscape. Her work is rooted in a deep commitment to public value, equity, and the transformative power of culture. With extensive experience in museum leadership, strategic development, and stakeholder engagement, Emmie has led major initiatives that strengthen the sector’s resilience and relevance. She is known for her collaborative approach, working across government, cultural organisations, and communities to foster sustainable partnerships and drive sector-wide change. Emmie’s leadership is informed by a belief in unique ability of museums to bring beauty, joy and wonder into our lives. She advocates for access, diversity, and ethical stewardship, ensuring that cultural property is protected and celebrated for future generations. She is currently undertaking a Doctorate by Professional Practice (Transdisciplinary) at Middlesex University.
