Speaker Bio

Petros Koutrakis is a Professor of Environmental Sciences at the Harvard School of Public Health, with over 40 years of experience in the field of environmental health sciences. His extensive career has been marked by interest in various aspects of environmental sciences, including human exposure assessment, ambient and indoor air pollution, environmental analytical chemistry, remote sensing, and environmental radioactivity. A significant part of his research has been dedicated to developing innovative methods for studying exposure, sampling techniques for gaseous and particulate air pollutants, and exploring the effects of air pollution on human health.

 

Koutrakis's research group has executed numerous ambient and indoor air quality studies both in the United States and internationally. Some of his career highlights include receiving the 2018 Excellence in Exposure Science Award from the International Society of Exposure Science showing his pivotal role in advancing the field of exposure science.

 

He has co-authored over 550 peer-reviewed publications. His service on numerous advisory committees and boards in the USA and abroad shows his dedication to applying his expertise to real-world environmental health challenges, influencing policies and practices in environmental health both domestically and internationally.
