Adjunct Senior Fellow for Middle East Studies, Council on Foreign Relation Washington DC. and Bernard L. and Bertha F. Cohen Chair Professor in International Relations at Lehigh University (emeritus). He served on the U.S. State Department Policy Planning Staff (1998-2000) and was the Director of Middle East Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (2015-2017).
