Speaker Bio

Elisabeth Lipiatou, Ph.D., Head of Unit, Directorate General Communications Networks, Content & Technology, European Commission. Primary areas of expertise and responsibility: research and innovation policy, science diplomacy, international cooperation, marine environment, climate change and policy, green and digital transformations, strategic autonomy, bridging the gap between digital technology research and market deployment. She has thirty years of experience in managing science & technology/policy interface at the European Commission, strong academic experience from the University of Pierre and Marie Curie in France, the University of Minnesota in USA, the Centro de Investigacion y Dessarollo (CSIC) in Spain, and the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in France, and over 40 publications. She has a Ph.D. in Marine Chemistry at University Paris VI, a M.Sc. in Computer Sciences, applied in Chemistry and Biology, from the University Paris VII, a M.Sc. in Oceanography and Meteorology from the University Paris VI, and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Athens, Greece.
