Tony Barber was an editor, columnist and foreign correspondent at Reuters news agency and the Financial Times from 1981 to 2025. His postings included the United States, Austria, Poland, the former Soviet Union, the former Yugoslavia, Germany, Italy and Belgium. At present he is working on a book on eastern European communism from 1945 to 1989.
